Conclusion
We welcome the Food Data Transparency Partnership and the progress it is making towards establishing baseline food sustainability metrics and methodologies. However, more clarity is needed on the areas in which the Government intends to set metrics and its timescales for doing so. Such metrics and tools are vital for knowing where action should be focused, and whether progress is being made to improve food resilience, soil health, carbon sequestration and nature restoration. A common standard for these measurements is also essential to maintain trust between policy-makers and the agriculture sector.
