Conclusion
Departments need to understand the delivery costs for their green jobs responsibilities to ensure their spending plans include sufficient allocation for this. Any analysis of environmental skills needs in local government needs to be accompanied by an assessment of the funding requirements for the green jobs and skills that are needed within local authorities to deliver local government’s responsibilities towards the Government’s climate and nature objectives.

Government Response Acknowledged
HM Government Acknowledged
Government’s response Skills for Jobs white paper, which was published in January 2021. The white paper offers us an opportunity to create an enhanced careers programme, which we expect to be delivered in line with current government priorities, including its net zero and environmental goal. DWP is working across government, including with BEIS, and directly with industry, to identify green job opportunities and to promote them to jobseekers through our network of jobcentres, youth hubs and flexible interventions. We are also working to ensure that the right skills and wider employment support are in place to support people into green jobs.
