Publish the Timber in Construction roadmap addressing afforestation commitments and timber product needs.
Recommendation
To support the Government’s commitments, we reiterate the recommendation made in chapter 1 that the Timber in Construction roadmap be published as soon as possible. The roadmap must comprehensively address the afforestation commitments made in the England Trees Action Plan and the need for timber construction products.

Good progress has been made on the Timber in Construction Roadmap and we intend to publish later in 2023. As part of developing the roadmap we are considering actions to increase domestic supply of timber construction products and we have engaged with industry throughout the drafting process. We are also proactively engaging with industry on the development of its National Wood Strategy for England to identify ways that Government and Industry can work together to increase productive planting in England and maximise opportunities for English wood in construction supply chains.
