We are satisfied that Alan Lovell has the professional competence and personal independence required of the Chair of the Environment Agency and that the recruitment campaign and his selection as the Government’s preferred candidate were conducted in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments.
We are content with Alan Lovell’s appointment and look forward to future robust engagement with him during his tenure as Chair of the Environment Agency—particularly on water quality, enforcement and the future of the Agency.
