Air pollution is the largest environmental risk to UK public health and is linked to as many as 64,000 early deaths a year, with disadvantaged communities disproportionately affected. It is also estimated to cost the country £20 billion a year. The Committee published its latest report on air quality in February 2021, but considered the Government’s response to be disappointing. The Committee is therefore conducting a follow-up inquiry to scrutinise made the progress by the Government since publishing its findings earlier this year. Show less
