Recommendation (the committee's words)
Relying on consumers to bear all of the costs of the energy transition is potentially the biggest barrier to achieving the Clean Power 2030 target and the broader benefits of moving away from fossil fuels. We recommend that the Government urgently considers how the system might be adapted to ensure the whole of the sector contributes to the cost of expanding and improving necessary electricity infrastructure.
