Recommendation
In response to this Report, the Government should set out its assessment of the merits of granting Ofcom further legislative powers and resources to more effectively regulate misleading information online regarding the energy transition, especially on the “credibility laundering” of information. The Government should also explore the merits of tasking Ofcom with producing speedy, interim decisions on complaints, as part of its efforts to counter the spread of misinformation.
