Conclusion
Whilst Mental Health Support Teams and Designated Senior Lead training is being rolled out, the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Education should work closely together with all schools to ensure that they have the support they need in order to offer a whole school approach, including: access to digital self-help support; school counselling for every child who needs it; and good guidance on best practice for staff on how to provide the most appropriate support in schools. 144. We accept this recommendation. 145. As part of the reforms to the Mental Health Act, we plan to expand eligibility to Independent Mental Health Advocated services to informal patients, including children and young people, who are admitted to hospital on a voluntary basis. This is to ensure that all patients understand their rights under the Mental Health Act and are supported to exercise these. 146. This is subject to future funding decisions.
