This session is to explore NHS pilots - the primary mechanism for testing new models and approaches in real-world settings before wider adoption. Pilots are central to the NHS’s ambition to innovate, “taking the best of the NHS to the rest”, as set out in the Ten-Year Plan. Pilots provide an essential bridge between policy ambition and practical delivery, enabling evidence-based decisions on what works. They allow the system to trial innovative solutions, gather insights, and refine approaches before committing to large-scale implementation. However, despite positive evaluations, some pilots struggle to scale and embed into routine practice. This session will examine why that happens and identify common challenges that hinder progress.Oral evidence sessions
