Select Committee · Health and Social Care Committee
Gambling- related harms
Status: Open
Opened: 24 Mar 2025
Inquiry scope
The Committee will examine the case for a public-health response to gambling-related harms, following the introduction of the statutory levy on gambling operators. The levy will generate funds for the research, prevention and treatment of gambling-related harms. The session will hear from academics and public health professionals about the changing nature of gambling products and what a public health response to gambling-related harms would involve. The Committee will also hear from representatives from the NHS, the Office for Health Improvements and Disparities and the Gambling Commission about their roles in the commissioning of research, prevention and treatment and views on strengthening gambling regulation.Oral evidence sessions
