Social care: changes to legal migration measures
Status: Closed
Opened: 13 Dec 2023
Closed: 30 May 2024
Inquiry scope
MPs will question senior leaders in social care about how the sector will be affected by changes announced by the government to limit legal migration in this topical one-off session. The committee will examine the impact of visa changes to ban care workers from bringing in family dependants and further restrictions to limit care worker sponsorship to organisations regulated by the CQC. Questions are expected to be raised about consultations with the care sector ahead of the announcement. What action the government is taking to deal with shortages of care workers as a result of the changes, and how people in need of care will be affected are also likely to be considered.Oral evidence sessions
